This week Mark Hartfiel traveled back to Benedictine College to speak at a campus-wide Marian Consecration kickoff event. Mark was at Benedictine College earlier this year filming The Glorious Mysteries for the Mysteries of the Rosary Series.
Mark Hartfiel shares some thoughts on the experience:
“It was a great joy to be back on campus at Benedictine for a screening of the Mysteries of the Rosary – The Coronation as well as a talk on Consecration to Jesus through Mary. I made my first Marian Consecration at a very similar event as a student at Franciscan twenty years ago! I still remember the talk very well by Dr. Mark Miravalle, but more so I remember the girl sitting next to me who would one day become my wife! I told the students at Benedictine to be careful who they are sitting next to and their were more than a few awkward smiles in the crowd… haha!
At its core Marian Consecration is all about Jesus! It’s about returning to the Heart of Jesus through the same humble vessel in which He came to us. It’s about loving Jesus with a perfect love, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary in the cosmic battle to crush the head of the serpent. It’s a call to heroic sanctity and sacrifice on behalf of others. A call to learn at the school of Mary, the school of Nazareth, to become smaller and smaller and smaller so that God can fill us with His very divine life within us, the Holy Spirit!”
Hear what others are saying about this event:
“I would say something that stuck out was when Mark said we have to go to Jesus through Mary because He came to us through Mary’s womb. That is a powerful way to think about the role Mary plays in our relationship with Jesus. Something that also stuck out was how the rosary is truly a weapon, and the devil can’t stand it when we pray it. I feel like the whole talk and video were a great reminder of how powerful Mary’s intercession is and that she is always waiting for us to reach out to her.” – Paige, Freshman at Benedictine College
“It is hard to put into words. It was one of the best BC events I have attended since moving to Atchison 4 years ago. I have a deep love for Mary that is not always shared by everyone in my family. So it was refreshing and uplifting to hear the stories and listen to the people interviewed in the documentary.” – Lynne, St. Benedict’s Parish Parishioner
“I was very excited when this event became my project. I enjoyed working with Mark because he had a great vision so it was easy for me follow along and make it happen. It was a gift for me to sit back and see everyone receive what Mark had to say especially because he was sharing his own experience and personal love for Mary. Watching the video brought me right back to Fatima. I needed a reminder of my encounters there and of Mary’s love for me, as life has been very hectic. I needed this event as a reminder to slow down and remember that Mary is taking care of me.” – Sister Joy (pictured 2nd from the left and also featured in The Glorious Mysteries)
