Core Team Focus
February
We are off and running. The main focus for this month is prepping for the upcoming Lenten Journey portion of the program. This consists of inviting new men to join you for the Lenten Journey as well as re-engaging those who may have dropped off. This also includes ordering Lenten Journey booklets for your active men. Lent provides a perfect opportunity and time to invite men from other parishes who might be interested in running the program next year. We have seen great results when potential TMIY core teams are invited to attend an existing TMIY program for one of their sessions.
The Spring Donation Appeal is also around the corner as it starts on Session 20. If you have not received your donations cards, spring scripts or recommended contribution level, please let us know.
Feruary Checklist
- Core Team/Small Group Facilitators – Phone calls and personal emails inviting people to the Lenten Journey.
- Order Lenten Journey booklets through your program coordinator. Each TMIY year has a different Lent book.
- If possible, make an announcement inviting new participants to the Lenten Journey portion of the program.
- Invite men from other parishes to come check TMIY out.
- Receive donation cards for spring appeal from Paradisus Dei.
- Make sure you recommended contribution level for the Spring Appeal is accurate.
Great Selling Points for Men:
- The TMIY Lenten Journey is the highlight of the program.
- The entire year has been building up to this journey.
- The Lenten Journey is a natural entry point for new men. Now is the time to join if you never have. Now is the time to return if you have been missing sessions.
- Men are looking for something spiritual to “do” during Lent. Let them know you have the program for them.
- It is a spiritually powerful event to have a large group of men come together during Lent to work on their spiritual lives, make sacrifices for the families, and pray.
- Opportunity to have the best Lent ever.
Quote of the Month:
“Lent stimulates us to let the Word of God penetrate our life and in this way to know the fundamental truth: who we are, where we come from, where we must go, what path we must take in life…” – Pope Benedict XVI
